About Us
The New South Wales Crime Commission is a statutory corporation established pursuant to the New South Wales Crime Commission Act 1985. This Act was initially assented to as the State Drug Crime Commission Act. The Commission started operations in 1986. The Commission also administers the Criminal Assets Recovery Act 1990, enabling it to confiscate the assets of those involved in serious criminal activity.
The Commission's Management Committee comprises the Minister for Police, the Hon Tony Kelly MLC, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Andrew Scipione, APM, the Chairperson of the Board of the Australian Crime Commission, Mr Michael Keelty, APM, and the Commissioner of the NSW Crime Commission, Mr Phillip Bradley.
The Crime Commission works closely with other law enforcement agencies, particularly the NSW Police Force.
