High-Ranking OMCG member charged with murder
A joint investigation between the NSW Crime Commission, NSW Police Force Homicide Squad and NSW Police Force South West Metropolitan Region has resulted in the arrest of a high-ranking outlaw motorcycle gang member over the 2014 murder of Mr Youssef Assoum.
Strike Force Fairmount was formed to investigate the suspected murder of Mr Assoum, who was found dead on Friday 11 December 2014 with gunshot wounds and lacerations to his body. Mr Assoum later died from his injuries. The NSW Crime Commission provided specialist technical and analytical assistance to the investigation.
Following extensive inquiries, on Sunday 28 August 2022, a man was arrested at Edgecliff and charged with murder and kidnap in company with intent to commit serious indictable offence (special aggravated kidnap).
Strike Force Fairmount forms part of the Task Force Erebus¸ a multi-agency Task Force established to coordinate investigations into organised criminal networks involved in fatal shootings and affiliated crime acts. It is led by NSW Police Force State Crime Command with the assistance of the NSW Crime Commission, Australian Federal Police and Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission.
Task Force Erebus remains ongoing.
