SF Mote Media Release

Two men have been charged with forging documents to obtain a $14.7m loan to build homes as part of a larger ongoing joint NSW Police and NSW Crime Commission investigation into alleged large-scale fraud activities operating out of the Illawarra region.

On Wednesday 17 February, SF Mote detectives from the Lake Illawarra Police District executed five search warrants across locations in the Illawarra area. Items seized included financial documents, poker machines and electronic devices.

The two men have been charged with 19 counts of publish false/misleading information to obtain advantage, dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and participate in criminal group contribute criminal activity.

A third man has also been charged with nine counts of publish false/misleading information to obtain advantage and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
