NSW Police Strike Force Mote detectives have charged an eighth man following ongoing enquiries into an alleged large-scale drug syndicate operating in the Illawarra region. The NSW Crime Commission provided analytical assistance throughout investigations.

On Wednesday 12 May 2021, NSW Police stopped a man in Croydon Pak allegedly in possession of $292,350 in cash. A search of his vehicle was found to contain 147g of cocaine in hidden compartments which had an estimated street value of more than $40,000.

A further search of his property in Randwick led to the seizure of drugs believed to be MDMA and heroin along with cash, money counters, phones and fraudulent documentation. The man was charged with dealing with the proceeds of crime and drug supply indictable quantity. Strike Force Mote investigations remain ongoing.
