Strike Force Mote Media Release - 16 February 2022
Two men have been charged over the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in the Lake Illawarra region.
In May 2020, NSW Police attached to the Lake Illawarra Police District established Strike Force Mote in cooperation with the NSW Crime Commission to investigate organised crime in the region. To date, 13 people have been arrested and charged as part of investigations.
On Monday 14 February 2022, NSW Police executed a search warrant at a storage shed in Warrawong and seized more than $72,700 in cash. Following this, NSW Police arrested two men in Winnima Way, Berkeley, on Tuesday 15 February 2022. Further search warrants were executed where officers seized an additional $7,000 in cash and almost 70g of a substance believed to cocaine.
The men were charged with supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity – serious indictable offence), supply prohibited drug (>indictable & <commercial quantity), and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime – serious indictable offence.
Investigations under Strike Force Mote are ongoing.
